The old FeedShow reader

If you arrived here from an old link, it probably pointed to reader.feedshow.com, the address of the original FeedShow web reader. This page explains what it was and where those links lead now.

What it was

FeedShow was a free online RSS reader launched in 2005. It worked in the browser, so you did not need to install anything, and it offered what people expected from a reader at the time: OPML import and export, folders, a “save item” list, print and PDF views, and a public directory of feeds. Its other selling point was money: FeedShow showed ads beside feed items and shared part of that revenue with publishers, at a time when most bloggers earned nothing from readers who never visited their site.

The reader also had a small set of “goodies”. The most linked of them was the OPML Builder, a page where you pasted a list of feed URLs and got an OPML file back. Blog posts, forum threads and university course pages linked to it for years.
